Residential Shiatsu Training in Valencia, Spain

Yoga and Do-in:

Integrated into all Shiatsu courses in order to enhance body awareness, facilitate the flow of energy and help students understand and overcome some of their own postural and internal imbalances.

First Year Shiatsu (1st year, Beginners Shiatsu )

This course teaches all the basic Shiatsu techniques working in prone, supine, side and sitting position as well as fundamental TCM and Zen Shiatsu Theory.

Second and Thrid Year Shiatsu Practitioner Courses (2nd & 3rd year)

Advanced Shiatsu including Oriental diagnosis, TCM, Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and in-depth theoretical and practical training.

First year (Module 1)
Beginners Shiatsu - 150 hours

• Yoga / Do-In exercises / Meditation
• Principles of touch:
• Sensitivity to Qi and positive connection to receiver's Qi.
• Supportive touch. Natural, relaxed pressure. Perpendicular pressure. Stationary pressure.
• Continuity and fluency of movement.
• Mental and physical concentration.
• Good posture and breathing centered in the hara.
• Techniques : Shiatsu in prone, supine, side and sitting positions.
• Contra-indications
• Meridian and Tsubo theory
• Accurate location of the classical meridians.
• TCM and Zen Shiatsu organ and meridian functions.
• Accurate location of Tsubo, acu-points, how to integrate these in a Shiatsu treatment.

Advanced Shiatsu: Diagnosis and Treatment- 150 hours

• Zen Shiatsu :

  • Location of the extended meridians system
  • Kyo-jitsu theory and application
  • Meridian stretches and application in treatments
  • Palpation or Setsu-shin
  • Hara and back diagnostic zones
• The 5 elements or transformations:
  • Understanding and application of creative and controlling cycles in nature and humans.
  • Signs or symptoms of imbalance in health.
  • Correspondances usually used in Oriental Medicine e.g. colour, taste, emotions etc.
• Oriental diagnosis:
  • Observation (posture, attitude, face, movement)
  • Listening (tone of voice, breathing)
  • Questioning (symptoms, medical history, lifestyle etc.)
  • Anatomy & Physiology

Third year (Module 3)
